Yeah, thermostat got stuck shut without warning. The thermostat has the disc on the bottom to block off the bypass passage. I was about to do exactly as you described until I realised it..

Best the temp has ever run............not sure I'm actually going to fix yet.

I've recently spent a heap of money on mine.

$509 - New battery
$120 - Wheel balance and alignment
$655 - 60K service

Hopefully that's it for a while!

I'm out Toronto way so I'm close to the Watagans and the tracks around Mt Sugarloaf.

I'm mainly on the beach though fishing so spend a lot of time at Stockton or the Mid North coast beaches.

Fitted led indicator bulbs and led fog lights that are normal clear lights but have an option for an amber surround which I wired into the indicator. Should see me turning now.
