As posted, I had my windscreen replaced just before Christmas. It leaked liked a flyscreen umbrella. The installer came back today. Everything out. Headlining. dashtop and trims. We put hose on it. Leaks all over the place. He resealed it from the inside. gaps everywhere.
Well that's a start for me to install my new headlining.

I had 3 maybe 4 windscreens replaced in my XJ. They normally used the old seal and then some sort of black sealant that they piped in on the inside. Well the bead could be seen from the inside..

Regards A

I did some more dismantling on the old XJ. Removed the steering wheel shaft and all as I didn't want to risk upsetting the clock spring. Also removed the aux fuel tank. I was surprised that after sitting for 12 months outside and without fuel it hadn't gone rusty inside. Stuck the tank on Gumtree to see if I can flog it. Still got a fair bit to remove before the body goes to the dump. I need an aircon pipe tool as I have a good heater core that I want to keep because new ones are over $300 just for the part. Would love to flog a few more bits so I can do some work on the house but just not a big market for XJ jeep parts down here.......

Regards A

Try to keep your HVAC unit in one piece for resale.
I have just bought your tank on gumtree.
Payment made. Happy new year.

I'm trying to keep the aircon sealed as long as possible. I wouldn't trust the evap though as my aircon leaked somewhere. Pretty sure the rest of the aircon system is all ok. I would just hate to sell the evap and then have some poor bugger do the 10hr job and it leak.

Thanks Rusty. I have PM'd you re the tank as it's a preupdate tank and it took me a lot of mods to get it to fit my update. One way around it could be to swap the side the hand brake cable runs down and shield it from the muffler heat somehow. Although I never tried the latter. But doing it over I reckon that is what I would try to do.

Regards A
