I know this is a but of a "thread dig" but I thought I'd best respond to MightyMouse as no one else seems to have done so and I'd hate for others to get the wrong idea.
Just want to make it clear that loop is
not a recovery point:
The stock JK does come with a recovery point there but for imported Jeeps (or rather exported) they need to replace that
recovery point with a
tie-down point so that the Jeep can be secured while on board the ship. You'll note that that loop is mounted East/West and is designed to prevent the vehicle from rocking from side to side when tied down on the boat and definitely
not designed to be used in a recovery. That ring will bend forward fairly easily and is prone to breaking if struck on rocks or anything.
The proper recovery points are called "Tow Hooks" and look like this:
When mounted on the stock bumper they poke up and protrude through the bumper itself and actually can't be fitted such that they point down:
They can also be fitted to the Mopar bumper:
Anyway, been loving your thread JTO and wish you many more upgrades to come.
All the best,
Slarti.
