wk2 loss of power
Got stuck going to Oberon on the hill climb out of Abercrombie Gorge
21'6" 2.4 ton full caravan on the back, but have pulled that up there before without a problem
3.0 Motori diesel 5 speed auto
Selected 2nd gear at the bottom and just after the first hairpin the diesel lost power and we were losing speed, tried to knock it back to first, didn't go the first time but did the second time although we had lost more speed by then. Made no difference still wouldn't pull, came to a stop half way up only 50 mtrs from the hairpin, no engine malfunction or any warning lights came, gearbox temp 78 deg. Ok what to do, stuck on this steep hill wasn't fun, thought about low range but wasn't keen, motor didn't stall and was idling fine and as it was locked in 1st gear I thought the torque converter might let it rev up and we might make off the steep bit to the next wider hairpin. Gave it some throttle and away we went like nothing was wrong although I kept it in first and second gear and above 3,000 revs the rest of the way up
The car did feel like it had lack of power on hills the rest of the way to Oberon
Dropped of the caravan and went to the dealer in Bathurst and of course no fault codes and the vehicle behaved perfectly
On the way home we did experience some loss of power a couple of times when climbing but nothing like the first episode
Thoughts anyone?????
