Na, you are right, they are -12 and the outer edge of the rim will stick smack on 3in further out than stock. Shame, they are really nice looking rims.

+20 offset in either 8 or 9in rims would sit inside the guard, depending on brand a 285 will either sit flush with the guard or fractionally outside, but you would easily get away with it.

Though the rims you got I think are these ones - http://xdrockstarwheels.com/partnumb...5312N&number=1

They only have the 17x8's in a +10mm offset or a +35mm offset. The +35 will be well inside the guards, and will have the inner edge of the tyre 10mm closer to suspension but should clear since the 285's just rub on stock rims and would be 10mm closer again on stockies. The +10's will clear by heaps and the outer edge of the new tyre would sit 55mm further out than stock, so around about 10 to 20mm outside the guards - prob enough to attract the wrong attention eventually.

However, if you are wanting to go to 35's down the track, you will need the offset your current rims have otherwise you will be hitting suspension components on lock and flex.

I would definitely keep your rims and put 35's on it. Looks more "natural" on unlimiteds and makes your rig a lot more capable off road.

I've changed my mind about 10 times today about what to do

This is what I am thinking now.

- keep the current 17x9 wheels
- get DBOR flat flares installed
- see if the tyre shop will swap my 285/70R17s for 35s and I pay difference

35s will look much better with flat flares and my 2 inch lift.

They already said they couldn't swap the wheels for me because they are drilled to order, but they might be able to swap the tyres to a bigger size (hopefully)

And my car is already going into DBOR this Wednesday for a bullbar and winch install so they might be able to do the flares then too.

So If I go with this plan, what size 35s should I be looking at? Keep in mind I have Mopar 2 inch lift kit, and will have the DBOR flat flares. I would stick with the Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ I think, but in what size so I won't have any issues?

They only seem to come in LT315/70R17 which comes out at 34 x 12.4 inches.

Can anyone confirm for me that this would fit OK with my plan above? Will that tyre fit on that wheel and stay within the DBOR flares?

Thanks for your help fellas

Sounds like an excellent set up.
2" would be perfect with flats IMO
Check firetrucks build, he is running a very similar setup, except with a 3" lift if memory serves me right. He runs those sized MTZs, different rims

I would definitely go down that path, but I'd also get your ratios done ASAP.

If you don't do much rock crawling and more hwy/city driving then stick to 4.56/4.88 ratios.

Either way, DBOR will answer all your questions when you take your Jeep to him
