Default KL UHF antenna bracket

Well I have had it a week so time to start drilling holes

First cab off the rank is the UHF antenna. Was looking at top of mudgard between bonnet mounts and have seen a few and they are flimsy and hit the edge of the bonnet and the mounting points are also flimsy so gave that idea a miss. I am also having issues gauging the front edge of the vehicle so thought about a bracket coming out between the bumper and bonnet so set to work.

Didn't have anything on hand strong enough in my mind to not flex, so ended up welding two strips of 40mm x 3mm steel together to make it 6mm. That shouldn't flex!

Ground it all smooth and shaped it up then was looking for some spacers to support it at the right height and decided to just use some more nuts instead. Totally adjustable that way.

This is the result test fitting ready to paint. It mounts with two bolts into the top of the radar dome bracket then one through the bumper to the steel under the bumper.

Over all very happy with the results, painted with satin black kill rust and hanging up to dry now.

I cut down a standard bonnet/boot gutter bracket (Z bracket?) so it became an "L" bracket. I then secured it to the inside of the roof rail and ran the cable over the seal near the rear door hinge. Being on the roof, I only run a 3db, but I could stick the 6.5 up there at a pinch.
