sounds like you know what you are doing

download the free Factory Manuals via this site, and search archives

you need a good Torx bit kit, so many fasteners are Torx, and many have blue loctite, even small screws can be super tight
(and strip out the fastener head inner splines)

with your window switches it could be the wiring harness or switch..(or fuse, motor)

there are EXCELLENT youtubes on nearly all XJ tasks (including overhaul window switch)..a BIG bonus to owning such a common vehicle from USA

but I recommend rule out wiring anomaly 100% first, I had to piggyback wires in several places to get things working..even though they passed continuity tests!! (did O/H switch to no avail)

thats wy i run a 12V wire to each point, starting with motor, work back

Oil Pressure sensor is near th filter, check it is correctly plugged in and not shorting to ground.
full = grounded
0 = disconnected

Drop the front of the drive shaft to get to the CPS. You don't want to drop the bolts into the bell housing!

It is a nice and stright car . And the low mileage definetly makes it worthwhile .
Fixing things by yourself will help you learn a lot abouth it and appreciate it more. Chaps on this site are verry helpfull as you allready experienced.
Advices are prety much on the spot and makes pin pointing a fault much easier but consider them as advices/suggestions only . After all you should be the one to find the problem using the help provided and if you share the knowledge will also help others .

I have an idea with most mechanical things... Have restored one car before and am a tinkerer so I have plenty of time (study electrical engineering full time, so heaps of spare time )

So those 2 really deep holes with the odd end on them are TORX? Any idea which size, like t15 or t20? I'll need to get a torx screwdriver set as my torx socket set doesnt fit in the hole

Well the windows I'm not too worried about at this point in time. The power connector isn't connected as it won't mate up to the one there, it is completely different..... should I melt that plastic shit and make it fit?

Also..... the dash lighting and gear selector lighting doesnt work with the rotary switch (and headlight switch). Would it be best to change the switch...? and do I remove it by getting that darned dash binnacle thing off?

Like drop the whole diff? I'd rather avoid dropping bolts anywhere on this car!

Cheers! I wasn't keen on a high k car.... it's very clean for 22yo and wont be too hard to sort out these little bits and pieces. I plan to do majority of the work on the jeep, as I do with all my other cars.
I am also really happy there seems a very helpful and welcoming forum presence here! Thankyou to everyone and I will continue to frequent the site, inputting what I can in future

make SURE you use the right Torx bit, the wrong size will strip them out in a trice..."safety" items all seem to have loctite

get the right door card with connectors from wrecker, should only be $50 max

I have fitted Digital OP sender&gauge off ebay $40, to some of my vehicles, and love them, may need a brass adaptor to screw into Jeep hole...or buy a new sender... or while at wreckers...

my digital temp gauge is just taped to my A-pillar/dash

Okay cool. I've figured out to get to the switch I needn't remove the steering wheel cover part. I need to drop the bottom of the dash and then test the terminals for power. Will also check fuses again as I think someone has stuffed around with them in the past...

Will do. Anyone know of a wrecker in Melbourne with any pre update xj sports? Or anyone wrecking one on here?

Hahahahaha the temp gauge! [emoji38] bodgys for life.

Also anyone experienced the part time light being stuck on? I know they can stick (it's the switch) but if I drive it will it go away?
