I can't help thinking there's more to it than just hitting a rock with a wheel or something.

Fluid level OK?
Any high speed (over 100kph) in 4WD Auto?
Any ABS or traction control issues? (both wheels locked up by brakes whilst transfer case is trying to drive it.)
Changing to 4WD Auto "on the fly"... 'at speed'?

Trying to think of all the reasons that so many teeth would go. I'ts like the chain suddenly didn't fit right, and a bunch of teeth broke off the drive shaft (smaller of the two) and got caught in the chain, which then destroyed the driven gear?

I blew mine the first time i went wheeling after getting the Eco West tune in the diesel. Got a second hand one in since then been ok although to be honest ive been far more gentle since, definitely gun shy now after doing transfer case and transmission within a couple of months of each other.

Yeh I am starting think I had bought the Jeep with a problem to start with.if you look closely at the foto you can clearly see fresh tooth breaks on 1 side and a polished tooth breaks on other side. I would guess 1 side was broken maybe even when i bought it ? . As had a week piont already which I tested at that piont . Maybe ? Any way didn't matter as I broke it proper and had to replace it .Lol

Hmmm, so driving in 4wd auto on the road is a no-no? I do this in terrible rains but would not go over 80kph doing so.

Is this bad mmmkkayy?
