Default tool talk.
hey,im slowly piece by piece buying all new tools, trying to buy the best i can afford for the purpose.so anyway,i recently bought a sidchrome socket set, then a set of three sidchrome pliers and am so far quite happy. im looking at a sidchrome spanner sets - been suggested to go ring & open ended, are there any suggestions or advise you guys could guve me?
ive had a couple sets of the cheap stuff before and im only pretty young, yr 12...but im trying to make the right decisions regarding tools...as they say "buy right,buy once"

mate always goes on about stahlwille, any experience?

much appreciate the help guys.

get a complete set for a start! Nothing more annoying than getting a set that goes to 17mm, no 18mm, then a 19 and straight to a 22mm!!!

If you can afford it buy Snap On gear for hand tools, they make amazing stuff.
But they are rediculasly expensive!
Sidchrome is just as good, and is Australian!

i use repco tools and find them to be good , wurth impact guns have been the best for me aswell

if its for your trade always go for the quality not price. we use snap on, stahlwille and blue point at work and found they have their flaws. you cant go wrong with snap on but you gotta sell a kidney to buy a full set of spanners. alternatives are kingchrome, stahlwille or blue point. but if its just for the garage then sidchrome wont hurt. bare in mind that tools are something you will always have forever.

I have had a set of sidchrome sockets plus open/closed spanners for nearly 40 years and they are still as good as... In those days they cost me about $90 which was like 2 weeks wages. Now you can get them or equivalent for a lot less than this. Cheers

yeah,i totally agree. for sockets i tried to get a set that had consequetive sizing. some dont which seems silly!!. its the same with spanners, but i will be making sure theres a full set
