Default Recovery Points

hey Steve,

i just got some hooks from the local 4wd store (read auto pro). I unbolted the stock tow points (the thick metal pieces... as you look at it, RHS front, RHS Rear). Get some longer bolts (not too long, The rears are alm ost touching the chassis) and unbolt and bolt up! The front will have some probs if youhave the airdam plastic.. else.. will bolt up nicely. Will try to post some pics soon..

Front tow hooks for an Xj
I have a Dec build XJ with a jeep alloy bull bar
what I did was to remove the air dam altogether
and added a section of 2" * 3/8" angle iron
two each side where the bullbar mounts had to drill 6 * 1/2 inch holes in each piece of angle iron and two holes into the bull bar brackets so that the angle iron is bolted to the bull bar mounts then bolted the angle iron onto existing bolts where and standard recovery points go and then two High tensile bolts joining the angle iron the the bullbar plate and attach the recovery hooks to the angle
can roughly see hooks in position on my web site
www.geocities.com/xjbeast
for the rear I used a thrid hook mounted to a short section of hitch steel 2*2*1/4 square tubing it slips into tow bar receiver 30 secs to fit and remove it
Front hooks are rated class three rear is class 2 (tow bar mounting system restricts rear it to class 2)any queries feel free to email me
total maunfacture and fitting time was roughly 2 hours total cost roughly $40.00 (including the 3 black rat hooks)
