Lightbulb WH SRT-8 question (4wd system)

So, I've got this crazy idea. It's to buy an SRT-8, put harropp e-lockers in it, NV245 transfer case for low range, lift it and have an on and off-road beast. I could buy a 5.7L again, but the extra 100HP, torque and better noise out of the stock engine has really got my attention.

The only thing I'm concerned about is whether the wiring harness has the connectors for the low-range switch and different transfer case already there. Has anyone done anything as crazy as this before or would anyone who has an SRT-8 be willing to check for me? I do believe it would need to be taken to Jeep to get reprogrammed for 4low but that's expected. Just asking the questions before I embark on this expensive project.

Buy a 5.7 and fit the 6.1 Hemi.

An SRT8 is a totally different animal. You could probably do it in the State's where reprograming the TCM and ECU wouldn't be such an issue (you can't get a TCM programed here in Oz I have tried) Jeep Australia don't want to know you if its not stock. SRT TCM's go into limp mode when low range is selected, yes I have tried it.

Best option is a Stroker kit and a beefed up transmission if you want the cubes.

Now this is only my opinion but this 5.7 For $12k

Modded 4" Superlift with JBA upgrades and long arm kit. RCV axles

4:10 gearing

Exhaust, rims and 34" or 35" tyres and you now have a weapon.

$30k to $35k out of your pocket and a smile a mile wide.

Cheers for the info. I'm actually looking to buy my old limited back, for $11,000. Appreciate it! You've saved me alot of messing around. I'll just go back to the 5.7 route and upgrade it over time. Might wait till someone is wrecking one with the 6.1/NAG1 combo and snatch that up as it'd probably cost the same as a stroker kit overall and the NAG1 is a much stronger transmission stock.

You will have to use a CRD TCM so low range works with a nag1 and that is where you get programing issues as Jeep can't/won't do it. I tried OST Dyno in the USA but in the end we gave up.

The 5.7 and 4.7 TCM is integrated into the PCM where the NAG1 is stand alone so there would be the issue of turning off the 5.7 TCM and getting the NAG1 TCM talking to the PCM.

Thanks for the replies and information, I've scrapped the idea as it looks to be too difficult. Today I bought my WH limited back. Going to buy the tuner suggested and go from there. Will likely just end up camming it, doing basic bolt-on mods and stopping there as I know the 545RFE would need to be built to get much more power.

But for now, it's fast enough. Since it's already got the main goodies (hemi with low range and QDII), I'm going to have to do a superlift, barwork and snorkel first so I don't destroy it on the trails.

Looking at these. http://www.murchisonproducts.com.au/...-wh-rock-rails

They stick out past the car a bit so would help with sliding into rocks or dirt walls.
