Check and report on Service four wheel drive system on dash.
Checked and found concern evident, found stored code for transfer case brake performance - C1406. Carried out diagnosis for stored code and could not replicate concern. Checked for intermittent wiring concern, clear DTC, road test and engage 4x4 low several times and found all OK.

C1406 is not one of the codes that is said to show up after the flash, C140F (Erratic Encoder Performance Fault) and a C1405 fault (T-case range position sensor circuit high fault) are.
Below is the manuals Possible Causes.
C1406 Possible Causes
Quote:
INTERMITTENT TRANSFER CASE BRAKE PERFORMANCE
(T317) TRANSFER CASE MOTOR LOCK SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
(T317) TRANSFER CASE MOTOR LOCK SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE
(T301) SWITCHED BATTERY SOLENOID SUPPLY CIRCUIT OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE
TRANSFER CASE MOTOR ASSEMBLY

C1405 Possible Causes
Quote:
INTERMITTENT TRANSFER CASE RANGE POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH
(K504) DRIVETRAIN 5 VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
(T313) MODE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE
(T313) MODE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN
(K594) DRIVETRAIN SENSOR RETURN CIRCUIT OPEN
TRANSFER CASE MOTOR

Notice any similarity's
If a replacement FDCM ( pre-update) takes away the code the circumstantial evidence would be overwhelming
I wonder if the programing from a pre N23 could be saved with a starscan & then be put back on an post updated FDCM?
