I've been doing a little reading about some of the gold finds in Australia back in the late 1800's. now it's got me wondering if there are any places where a touristy fellow like myslef can go to prospect for a souvenier. any thoughts?

what sate are you going to thereare some good spots around ophir and hillend in NSW

sorry mate cant help only prospected NSW but i did read about a mob that take 4wd tag along prospecting tours in WA i wouldnt know where to look to find the artical but it might be worth asking some of the tagalongs over there if they know who runs them
there was some good finds in the artical hope this helps a bit

tons of places around kalgoorlie, it has a massive open pit right in the main town centre,its nearly taking over the town, contact the visitors centre they will be able to tell you, its the original gold rush town in WA, also has a tourist mine you can go down, hanault I think, stinkin hot but, cheers Russ...
