Default windscreen wiper arm removal WJ

hi there.

a few days ago i came back to the car to find someone had bent the windscreen wiper back, the arm was bent pretty bad and i wasnt able to get the blade to sit flat again so i picked up a new arm from a wreckers. any way ive had an attempt at fitting it but ive run into a problem. i removed the plastiv cap, undid the nut holding the wiper arm in place, now i presumed the wiper arm would just lift off at this point but it wont. im not sure if its just really stiff or is there something i have neglected to do? and if it is just because its stiff what is the best way to go about removing it?

Yes they can be stiff. A bit of WD40 down the hole won't hurt. You can try pulling harder or I often get them off by pulling with some pressure then tappign the top of the shaft with a hammer. if you don't have a hard nylon hammer leave the nut on flush witht he top of the shaft and hit that so as not to damage the thread. Don't get carried away and lay into it though. A small 2 armed puller wouldf obviously work as well if you have access to one.
