i see in your pic that you have welded on the outer side of the job and also plug welded it as well

my question is do plug welds add much more strenght to a job and would you recomend doing on most jobs to improve strenght

scott those mount arnt welded all the way around the outside
tha is wuy there are the plug welds on them
the mounts were from a kit they already had the holes in them

Is there a special technique you use to stop the pool wanting to obey gravity?

when going verticle up
you need a fast freez slag a flick/whip motion ashort arc and a 60-70 degree trave angle

Muz,

This is a split in a diesel fuel tank on the pajero. it looks like where the baffle is welded to the skin its tearing the skin. the right weld is where the leak is. It's not growing any more and i will be welding it tomorrow. I was going to weld along the split and T it at each end of the split, then weld some 3mm plate over the area of both welds and plug the extra plate every 4"(just a 5mm hole).

What do you think?

welding fuel tanks is not somthing i recomend for the lay man
they ned to be cleaned and purged before any hot work is donne
i have spoken to matt privately on this one
