Got s1ck of coolant spraying around under the bonnet every time I go off-road so extended the 'overflow breather vent' (or whatever it's called ) on the overflow bottle with some left-over 5/8" heater hose.

Not so much what I did today but over the last two months or so.
Driving from Townsville to Mt Isa engine decided to blow a hole in the side of the block about 200kms out of Mt Isa. So after getting towed into Mt Isa I parked it in a mates backyard for about a month till I decided what to do about it.

Hole in the block

Got a replacement engine from a ZJ with 140000ks on the clock sent up here from Jeeeparts Australia as no-one in Mt Isa has anything for jeep.

Old engine coming out

Engineless waiting for new clutch to arrive

Over the last month or so I have removed the old engine and installed the new engine, new clutch, new clutch master and slave cylinders, new plugs and leads and got it to fire up this morning. Once I got the timing set correctly (the first instructions I found online didn't work properly so I downloaded the FSM from on here) it fired straight up. For never having removed an engine from a car before or installed an engine am very happy that it all came together with me doing all of the work by myself and managed to save myself a quoted $1600 an hour (was told to allow 2 8hr days at $100 an hour for a mechanic to do the swap) by doing the work myself on the weekends.

New engine in waiting for new clutch master and slave cylinders to arrive.
