Thanks Seacomms - would you anticipate any issues with the straps I was looking at? Also, with your design, how do you go about the lifting lip under the top? Just some manual lifting to slide it under?

Tyvokka - Is it attached to your roof rack and you roll up and down?

Thanks very much.

Yep. It is attached to the roofrack and easy up/down.

It may be 47 or 70 kgs but at that height and lack of hold points, the roof is kinda awkward to handle with the wife. 2 blokes means you and the son, mate or neighbour when they're free..Then comes some cold ones and there goes the afternoon.. Lol!

Yep I lifted one front corner first by hand amd slipped the hook under then the rear on the same side then same on the other side. I then hoisted it up, drive the vehicle out from underneath and lower it back down. Install the anti spreading bars and load in the front panels then up she goes!

The slings are probably over kill given tje weight, I was originally going to use some seat belt style webbing I had left over from replacing the winch cable for the boat but decided it would not go high enough for what I wanted. The only issue I could see is that if you closed the tail gate window with the strap between the glass amd the roof it may be too thick.

I simply grabbed 4 eye bolts from Bunnings and whacked them through angle iron supports I layed in the roof.
No fancy pulleys or gadgets, I just pull it up to the ceiling with ordinary luggage straps around the roof rack and leave it there.
Simple, cheap, easy, fast and convenient. ("KISS")

That's why I did mine with a couple of ratchet straps. Cheap and easy!
