Default Distorted Cooper oil filter WH diesel

Second time I have used the Cooper oil filters in my 2010WH GC diesel. Both oil changes at around 6000 klms the filters have come out distorted.Sydney Filters gave me Coopers as Manns were not available.never did it with the Mann filters.
Will send photos to SF for their comment.

Be interested to see what you mean by distorted if you can post a pic.
I just took a Ryco out of our 2005 WH and it was perfect. Replaced it with a Mahle from RockAuto. I tend to stick to the Mahle, Mann and Hegst Euro brands. Haven’t heard of the Cooper filter for the OM642. Where is it made?

Cheers,

Hi bjm.
Do you mean the filters look twisted?

I have seen this happening on various videos showing a filter change on the OM642. I can only assume that the filter is dragging on the filter housing and is being twisted as the filter and cap are screwed home.

I did wonder if being twisted compromised the pleats and made them less efficient.

Oil Filter update
Had a call from Sydney Filters re distortion of Cooper oil filter fins .He said knew about this happening and was caused by the way top and bottom bonded to the filter material.I got these in place of the Mann ,which do not distort ,Mann were not available at the time.
He also stated that Mann were a much better filter .I would say because fins are all bent in one direction it has something to do with the way the oil circulates inside the housing.SF now have Mann in stock.
