I found the whole thing really interesting. The Nissotas would struggle to get enough speed at the start, then hit the bumps so hard they were often, literally, airborne, all four wheels in the air, on the wavy humps in the bottom third. They would then steadily loose speed and grind to a halt on the last, steep bit, some higher, some lower.
There was one guy with a Pootrol, huge lift, enormous tyres, who was desperate to get up. He ended up taking a run up like Dennis Lillee trying to impress the selectors! Where I started there was a mound about 300 mm high I guess. He started at least 50 metres or more further away and came in flat out. The Pootrol got airborne off the bump, then airborne a couple of times on the bottom third and still didn't get close to the top. I'm amazed he didn't break a few things. The black smoke blasting out the back was incredible.
My first and only run, I started on the top of the 300 mm mound and just floored it. I chose the least bumpy line at the bottom and then dropped into the ruts and shot over the top. The second car in this shot is just on the far side of the mound and the start of our runs:
Matt's run in the video is basically what I did, you just miss the first little bit of the run up.
The air suspension smoothed it all out I guess, and we didn't look like getting airborne on any of the runs.
The camera is pointed straight out the windscreen so flattens it all out.
Cheers
