Well I didn't see that coming. I thought the proposed NCOP looked bad enough; I never guessed NSW would come out with something as draconian as that.

So what happened to the idea of national standardisation ?? Here's what the SA transport dept have just come out with - seems the idea of tyres up to 50mm larger dia (which was pretty broadly considered likely to come into force for 4WDs) has been ditched.

================================================== ======================================
Thought it was worth updating here following contact with Transport SA on 22 July
================================================== ======================================

Here's what I've been advised wrt the NCOP by the SA Transport Dept rep:

The public comment period has finished (although late comment may be considered). We are now working our way through these and amending (or not) the code accordingly. We are looking at completing this by the end of July, although this will slip if we find we need to fix any major problems.

Once that is done we (the AMVCB Working Party) will sign off and each state or territory will do whatever is necessary to adopt the code. In SA this may take a while, as we will probably need to amend the regulations.

Once we have adopted the NCOP (VSB 14) SA will abide by all the contents. In the meantime, our current requirements continue to stand.

So that at least encourages me that SA won't be following NSW down the absurd path your Mr Daley has taken you - provided that is that his stance isn't reflected in the finalised VSB14.

Email the Premier of NSW as well as the funky Roads Minister. Only if they are in fear of their cushy jobs will they listen.

Also NSW Paliment hasn't sat since 26Jun and doesn't sit again until Sept - so just how has this been passed as law??

This STINKS of political Stunt. tried calling the ministers office today and will followup tomorrow - but even they knew next to nothing about this stuff.
My next call will be to the Shaddow ministers office

Yer but why should they be, we should be able to have our Mods checked out and proven safe, if not make the changes till it passes whether its got 2" or 8" lift 33" or 37" Tyres if it passes it passes. But these rules go to far there not allowing us to do Jack!

NSW has always had Transport Regs that are a pain to the rest of the country, more tax and the pollies have never listened to the people who keep voting them in..............nothing changed and never will.

The RTA will be giving their tape measures a good service in anticipation.
