I was stoked yesterday with the 1% cut, we then had a meeting at work. The boss told us that due to the hard times he'd just had to let one of the staff go, he then followed by saying it wont be the last.

Bugger mate, what sort of Industry do you work in?
Printing. Only last year he was talking about how well things are going, but 2 bad months are not easy.
BlueStar bought out McMillians a little while back and closed there doors the other day. Not sure how many staff but it would be over 100 easy I'm sure.

These are the ones we do not hear about in the Media. The number of people is not dramatic enough for them but happens in lots of smaller businesses and causes alot of pain. Sadly I think lots more of us are going to be affected in the near future. During the recession we had to have a number of my friends were forced to sell up and move to look for work. I hope people are not affected that way again.

They let 5 here go just before Xmas, and possibly more to go as well, and talk of cost cutting all the time... Tighten the belts, You have to work harder to make up for less people, No overtime, No Raises, Still have their Private Corporate Suite at Suncorp Stadium for the Rugby Season..
