The downside to the RE kit is the fact that the tailshafts are different, conversely the IRO style use the same tailshaft front and rear, if something happens while out and about to the rear tailshaft you can simply swap the front into the rear and then drive home, even if that means from one side of the country to the other, to me that is a major benefit...

Good point but I am looking at a custom tailshaft anyway because I have a Dana 44 with a slightly longer snout. Why can't you remove the rear tailshaft and drive the front wheels home?

I see your point but having one spare shaft on board that could cover either front or rear failure is a plus for me. Particularly if you need 4wd and have limited room for spares. I have the iro hack, great service from those guys.

I have a xj front shaft in my hn't, with a 8.25dif-same length as a d44.
