Default xj jeep cherokee diff axle diesel V petrol

After sorting my map sensor issues on our return trip from our holiday the rear bearing began failing.
A quick check of the oil level showed it to be spot on , added extra 300ml to flood the bearing so we would get home by jacking one side.

Pulling the axle showed its damaged on the running surface , do the petrol version of the Xj jeep Cherokee's run the same diffs as the diesel one ,can I pinch a rear axle from one to replace my damaged axle..?

Thanks Anthony

Same axles, different ratio and uni size for the yoke.
Maybe try posting in the XJ section for more info. Us XJ guys usually hang out in the "What did you do to your XJ today" section.
Good luck with it.
