I really like the AEV snorkel because it's so simple and it doesn't go up,in and around the engine bay like the other snorkels on the market. My only gripe with the AEV is chopping up the bonnet. Not something I want to do myself and not sure I would find someone in Cairns to do the job for me.So I was thinking of going with the TJM snorkel coz I'm lazy,I can get one for 1/2 the price of an ARB snorkel fitted and I'm lazy.So the jury is still out for me when it comes to snorkels but crunch will soon be upon me as I'm getting a snorkel next month before I drown my JK.

Yeah you are right there Yom. I've got the AEV as well and I was informed of this by Gary at Westside 4x4 when I was in there for my last service. I just looked at him, I mean do I really care I've got a Warn Rock Crawler front bar.

With fitting the AEV to the standard bonnet you are altering the structure by cutting out the edge, but then again that is compensated for by fitting the trim ring, which balances out the strength lost by cutting the edge of the bonnet.

The AEV snorkel is very easy to fit and should only take a couple of hours, if you cant find someone capable of such a simple job you have a big problem. The hardest part is drilling a hole and it doesn't seem to affect the strength of the bonnet.

I would be sure it would not cause your bonnet to lose a significant part of its structual integrity where you cut the AEV slot. I thought you can cut it but not significantly weaken it. IMO the JK bonnets are pretty solid to start with.

I have the Safari - looks great, no issues with it at all and I'm very happy with it!

As far as the AEV goes, in my opinion it looks like the JK has grown a tumor on its side, and the look of it will never grow on me!

Default Snorkels

For me it was a choice between Airflow & TJM - I just can't work out how people could justify over $500 for a few plastic pipes. Too me, Safari is a rort, so I went with Airflow (about $460) & am happy.

I love AEV stuff but the design of their snorkel is a bit of an eyesore IMO.
Its hard to fault its simplicity though and it would fit with your xenons.

The main issue with the Airflow was the installation which was a complete PITA. Took a day, needed removal of nearly the whole front, some of the inner connections needed fabbing and the pillar reassembly was somewhat impossible (those that have done it would understand). Glad its done & the thing is quite solid.
