Interchangeable parts?
Just wondering if we all put our heads and great body of knowledge together we could come up with a list of common service parts that DONT have to come from the US and can be picked up at your local Repco SooopCheeep etc.
Where we can pay $2.50 for some doodad instead of $12.50 from a "specialist" retailer.
Stuff like filters, dizzy cap? Coil? Rotor arm? Carb reco kit? plugs and hoses?
Uni's? Bushes?
There will always be some parts that have to be genuine but there are plenty of others that are interchangeable.
From memory an oil Filter for a 258/6 has the same specs as a way less expensive Holden compatible part. A Ryco Z30 will fit but has clerance issues with the frame rail in some situations, I think its a Z160a??
My last Carby kit was listed under a Ford part #, the same book had 3 other kits listed for my carby.
Can this be a sticky?

Good idea Gildo
The high/low beam headlight switch is the same as a holden EH type era switch
Rear tail lights for 80's CJ can be interchanged with square trailer lights for about $15 dont know of anyone who can really pick the difference if there infact is one
need a CV drive shaft get a FSJ shaft and have cut to size and serviced by hardy spicer for much less than a new shaft

Thanks Dave, Just came about that Im (STILL) in the process of redoing the topend of my CJ and found a great parts shop that dosent specialise in Jeeps but take the time to look through the books to find the part that looks the same or has the same spec.
Good to find a shop that is run by motor heads and not just retail assistants who would know more about selling Usb plugs than they would about Welsh plugs.
Anyone reccomend a decent Parts shop?
Bursons in Werribee/Hoppers is great as long as you get the old dood and hes in a good mood.

As Aussie CJ7 mentioned with the trailer lights, we changed the front indicator lights on the weekend with the square trailer lights and they work fantastic! Yes and all for only $15 each!
