Default Purchasing Unlimited? thoughts/opinions

Hi guys,

First time poster, would be first time jeep owner.

I am considering purchasing a diesel Unlimited probably a 07 or 08 model.
I have been hearing some horror stories in relation to mechanical problems with these vehicles, brakes, stall outs, recalls etc. I was wondering if some of you owners could give me an idea of some of the issues you've had so i can decide whether this thing is the way to go, or if i should run while i still can.

Thanks

Bought my 07 in June of that year and am still very happy with it.

Yeah a few lil Jeep querks but still think it's an awesome vehicle and i drive nearly all of the currently available 4wds available today on a daily basis.

Mild lift, bullbar and decent tyres and its a very capable vehicle!!

Hey mate and welcome.

The JK are a good rig and the diesel is a great motor. I have the V6 so cant say this from persnal experience but all reports seem to be good. Regarding the stalling that was more to do with the fly by wire throttle that takes time to get used to and when new motor takes a little time to bed in so this isnt really an issue, brakes are fine and havent heard anything about this and recalls have been few but nothing major except the DW issue which has effected some including myself but is nearly every time (well most in reality) due to worn components.

Personally i think they are an awesome rig and bloody capable off road but as with every vehicle they all have their issues

IMHO i think a great choice

thanks guys yes the dw's are a concern i will have to look into. so no other major issues hey, just not wanting to enter into a love hate relationship (i love it and hates and wishes to distroy my bank balance) with another vehicle. how about reports of excessive oil usage and poor customer support from manufacturer/dealers. .
regards

some dealers a better than others, my dealings with the dealer have always been good but my vehicle has been exceptionally reliable except for my DW issue which i have now sorted but this could have been due to mods more than anything else.
There was a slow fill issue with the diesel but i think a recall was done on this and got all sorted but for the most part they are a reliable vehicle

Had mine for 10 months so far and done nearly 25000km and had no problems so far. Love it and drive it every day. The CRD auto combo is great. The engine seems to be strong and I've not heard of any issues with from the guys who've done a lot more km's than me. I think the manuals have slightly weak clutch but other than that I've not heard of any major issues. All up I'd highly recommend one.

We have a 08 CRD and are very happy with it it’s the Manual and we have had no problems with it over all. sure there have been the odd jeep thing like first week computer Shat its self and we have had the Battery explode a couple of weeks ago, however every time Jeep Assist and our Dealer have gone above and beyond in service and to get us out of trouble( it’s the dealer is on the north side of Brisbane)
We are so happy with the car 08 JK and the service we get from the dealer we ( today) are getting prices to upgrade to the brand new 2010 model.
However this time we might try the auto not sure it just depends on the towing capacity of the Auto.
