mate the top of mine has finally buckled like many others with battery problems. was told by my local tyre and battery bloke to thnk about changing it soon before it split open. by the way if you replace with another optima, make sure you replace it with an aftermarket optima, not from dealer. the original battery as supplied by dealers and chrysler is a cheap runoff battery at a very high cost to you. if you buy aftermarket you will get the genuine optima quality product and the problem will probably not occur again. also last time i checked the dealers wanted $800 bucks for their second rate battery while the genuine quality aftermarket battery costs about $400. you can get away with a standard lead acid battery if you wish, there is no necessity for deep cycle battery to be used as a cranking battery. cheers.

My stock battery went too just a few months back.
Is there a common root cause or prevention for the JK batteries frying?

mine lasted 3yrs and 1 day. They are covered under the 3 yr warranty.

Yep bought the real deal optima from battery world lil over $400 from memory.

In hindsight it was on its way out ages ago went flat with the stezza on a few times while working on it and the top was well buckled.
