Default Rubicon transfer case chain replacement

Has anyone changed their TC chain on their Rubicon? I have a 2011 JKU Rubi and was planning to change the chain because the car does a lot of work and chains can stretch then jump teeth and damage internals but before I do so I needed to confirm what the part number is and if the Borg-Warner Morse Hy-Vo (HV-081) chain is the correct one for the Rubi. I've read a few threads and other Google search stuff but I'm still not entirely sure if their are 2 types of 241J transfer cases fitted to Rubicons, eg a 4:1 and maybe there's a 2:1 ratio in the USA. And is the NP241 the same as the NV241, so what the difference between a NV & NP.

Also there seems to be 2 options in teeth 40 or 47?
CHAIN. Transfer Case.
Part #: 05135692AA, With [47] Tooth Sprocket.

Part #: 05080215AA, With [40] Tooth Sprocket

Here's one I've found:

Maybe I should have asked what colour should I paint my TC or should I just polish it, we're a bit thin on the ground with tech knowledge. I've placed the order for a replacement Rubicon TC drive chain and I'll let you know if the part I receive fits.

Chrome it....... perfect for the functional off roader.

IHMO your not getting feedback as chain stretch in a Rubi seems not to be an issue as its stronger than a standard case. You get the occasional stretched 2.8:1 chain but even that's not all that common. Perhaps a few more years......

Having done some searches for T Case parts all I can say is that its bloody confusing - part numbers don't seem to agree, things that plainly won't fit the different cases described as being compatible etc....

Thanks MM, I'll keep you posted once I do the surgery. It was a bit like the time I ripped the teeth off the XH Commander's TC chain gear cog. I was the first one to do this type of damage to a Commander and then closely followed by Val Pacer with his WH Grand

Sad to hear that. Good luck with the replacement.

Also, sad photobucket-screwing-their-clients image placeholder.

@multihull Did you ever tear your transfer case apart and put in the new chain? Was it stretched?
