But heres were it gets a little fishy i asked to add my son to the list of drivers using the car hes on his Ls the bloke said no problem and no increase on the premium as he will be supervised so no wrys ill get the wife to pay with her card.
She rings up quotes the quote number and is told it will be $1200+ she said why we were just quoted $980 ? well its because your son is on the drivers list.
So son removed i suspect my wife said he would be a regular driver and not a causal one but so be it.
The turbo one is a classic stinger for us diesel drivers they see it as a add on to the premium i tried to explain when i had a turbo diesel car that put of a massive 94KW of raw white nukkle power pushing a 2.3Tonne car yer real speed machine huh but doesnt matter a turbos a turbo apparently.

John
PS i seen this before with vast differences in premium costs it all depends were you live, they dont ask for your post code without a reason it determins your risk factor, high crime rate for that area = higher premium regardless of what crime are committed. Add your driving history of the last 5 years just to top up the costs.

Thats because an L plater is not required to be a listed driver, They should not have listed him until he is on his P's then your premium will be adjusted accordingly.
Most insurers dont use turbo or non turbo as a rating factor for the past 10 years it is a bit of a myth. There are that many factors to an insurance rating most people would not realise that add up to your premium and people just assume a jump between similar vehicles is due to that fact.
Risk factors on postcode are also much more than just crime rate ie average distance travelled for people who live in that area, demographics/likelihood of a not at fault collision etc etc.
And dont forget if you get quoted a premium of an excessive amount its for a reason - They dont want to insure you

One of the more expensive places told me my insurance was even higher because some asshole ran into my car last year and I did nothing wrong, but that still put up my insurance! |
Thats because statistically someone involved in a not at fault collision is 70% more likely to have an at fault collision in the following 18 months.
