She rings up quotes the quote number and is told it will be $1200+ she said why we were just quoted $980 ? well its because your son is on the drivers list.
So son removed i suspect my wife said he would be a regular driver and not a causal one but so be it.
The turbo one is a classic stinger for us diesel drivers they see it as a add on to the premium i tried to explain when i had a turbo diesel car that put of a massive 94KW of raw white nukkle power pushing a 2.3Tonne car yer real speed machine huh but doesnt matter a turbos a turbo apparently.

John
PS i seen this before with vast differences in premium costs it all depends were you live, they dont ask for your post code without a reason it determins your risk factor, high crime rate for that area = higher premium regardless of what crime are committed. Add your driving history of the last 5 years just to top up the costs.

Thats because an L plater is not required to be a listed driver, They should not have listed him until he is on his P's then your premium will be adjusted accordingly.

Most insurers dont use turbo or non turbo as a rating factor for the past 10 years it is a bit of a myth. There are that many factors to an insurance rating most people would not realise that add up to your premium and people just assume a jump between similar vehicles is due to that fact.

Risk factors on postcode are also much more than just crime rate ie average distance travelled for people who live in that area, demographics/likelihood of a not at fault collision etc etc.

And dont forget if you get quoted a premium of an excessive amount its for a reason - They dont want to insure you

One of the more expensive places told me my insurance was even higher because some asshole ran into my car last year and I did nothing wrong, but that still put up my insurance!
Thats because statistically someone involved in a not at fault collision is 70% more likely to have an at fault collision in the following 18 months.

How do you guys get such cheap insurance? By getting quote online or argue with agents in the phone?

Anyone knows for example, market value for my car is 19000, but I bought it in 15000. If I insure it in 15000, can I get fully covered?

Thanks.

We got our 01 GC limited on the weekend, comprehensive cover including unlimited windscreen & glass cover with no excess & guaranteed rating 1 for life, $582.00 p/a with QBE.

Pretty damn good I think.

Cheers

I cant believe these insurance companies. How can I be quoted over 5000 from one place and 2500 for the exact same car at a different place... a 2.7L Turbo Diesel, A fantastically fast and high crash risk car. Its worth just over 20,000 and after 4 years they expect me to pay for the entire car again to them in case its damaged?
I red somewhere how the government wants to come down on young drivers who have crappy old cars because they are unsafe, Problem is young drivers have crap cars because insurance scum charge way to much and most young drivers don't have much money.
I was also told because some jerk ran into my car 2 years ago, I was a higher risk therefore had to pay more! What a load of shit. Wonder if they would find out if I say I have never been in a incident. It wasn't my car that was in the crash, just me in someone else car, so would they know???
Mycurrent insurance is about 1000 a year, for a crappy magna worth about 5-6000, but still I want a Grand Cherokee ASAP

This thread is old,
but why the hell is my insurance quote for a 2002 overlander $600 more then for a 2005 5.7 hemi
Wouldn't the newer, faster, more powerful car cost more for insurance?
