Catch Can install

I'm looking at installing a provent catch can on my 2015 CRD. I have searched the forum but most of the old photos have the photo bucket error.

Given I can't find a kit for the wrangler, does anyone have any pics of where they installed their catch cans in the engine bay and what they used as a bracket for mounting.
Also what hoses were required for install.
Any help is appreciated

I have a Provent catch can on my 2010 CRD manual. Mounted on a piece of aluminium angle in turn mounted across an original Jeep bracket on the firewall next to the brake booster. Added a support from an existing bolt/nut from a bit lower down to the new aluminium angle. Rerouted the PCV breather hose to the exit side of the Provent so that I could return to standard if I ever take the Provent off, e.g to sell the car. Inlet side is new heavy duty rubber hose and both joins onto the Provent are via next size up sleeves. Hope this helps your thinking. (Excuse the dust - result of a 16,000km trip including central Oz, top end, Gibb river Rd, WA coastline and back to Melb)

That is decent, will help me very much. Where did you get the kit from?

I basically did the same on mine. Here are some more pics which may help you.

My JK is manual, so the clutch master cylinder prevented me from pushing the ProVent and mounting bracket back parallel with the firewall like you can with the auto's (and how Blugeepunlimited has).

The plastic hose fitting you see is from the retic section in Bunnings.

I used clear hose on the ProVent's output so I could see if there was any oil mist still getting through. Happy to report that after 25,000km since installation, the clear tube is like new inside still (and the ProVent is still on its original filter).

I ran a hose from the drain down to a tap (that came with my ProVent) and cable tied it to the body/chassis area just under the driver's seat for easy draining.

I bought my ProVent in a universal kit off eBay. But to be honest, I don't think I used much from the kit, apart from the tap.


Also it's worth mentioning, that there are plenty of others with JK CRD's that say the ProVent is a massively overpriced catch can, and that any cheap catch can will do the job, AS LONG AS you vent it to atmosphere (ie do not plumb it back into the intake (some have an even more extreme setups and run a tube straight from the PCV valve venting to atmosphere bypassing any need for a catch can at all). The general consensus from these guys is to run the drain tube down to behind the front tyre or into the chassis rail... And that this is the cheapest and only way to guarantee no oil mist is being passed into the intake...

Although this is a cheaper alternative to ensuring that you keep oil mist out of the intake, I personally do not like this idea at all as you would be just leaking oil everywhere all the time.

This used to be the norm and part of the reason why roads used to be so damn slippery after light rain or before it had rained enough to wash the oil off. My BIL, several decades ago, had a Ducati 900SS that did this. He rerouted it, though, to point at the chain as it went around the front sprocket. Never needed to oil the chain again!
