OK. My 2c worth.

I did the Cape when I first bought the JKU Rubi (2007). Went up on the OE shocks.. they were OK but the springs caved in with the extra weight etc. Put in ARB springs and shocks with 2" lift. ARB shocks were good but firm but the springs were shite.

Since then I have run 2" lift via Lovell springs F&R .. HD at rear plus rear airbags and Bilstein shocks all round.

This combination has proven itself off and on road. I have been all over with this set up without an issue and pretty comfy too. Eg., Kimberley, Gibb River Rd; Anne Beadle track; Great Central Road; Sandy Junction Track; Mount Augustus, all around Alice Springs, Pilbara, Gascoyne etc etc.

A related question for those who have done the Cape in recent years: Are there long enough distances on dirt roads with corrugations to justify remote reservoir shocks?

Well I did the Canning Stock Route with monotube Bilsteins. And that is about 2000km of nothing but corrugations and sand. Ave speed about 30km/hr. And it is a lot worse than the Cape.

I have done the Anne Beadell with same gear. Shocks were not a problem. Nothing broke on the JK.

Hope this helps.
