In Australia I think you'll find they were all sold with a hard top and you also got the soft top with it.
I have noticed though when they are being advertised secondhand online, they always seem to say soft top and often don't mention a hard top but if you see one you're interested in I'd give them a call and you'll probably find they do come with the hard top as well.

True. They came as hardtop or both.
There are also aftermarket options, in both original style or fastback, but you would probably have to order, (& pay shipping), from the US.
eg: Quadratek: JK Hardtops

The early models up to around 2009 came standard with the "Renegade pack" as a factory fit option but could be ordered without it.
The "Renegade pack" consisted of hard top, soft top, plastic side steps and 7 speaker stereo.
It's rare to find one, the only real way of knowing is it would have the soft top and there'd be no plumbing, wiring or stalk control for the rear window wiper.
They get to a certain age and people sell either roof if they're going to stick with the one roof and not change it out.

So that might be the reason the 09 that i looked at in a car yard doesn't have one, that still had the original paper work from the guy buying it, that has "Renegade pack" on it aswell as the 7 speaker stereo
