Smile Passive Entry problem on 2018 Laredo

Hi all. First post for me. Better than hearing the last post I guess. Just had the towing kit installed (HR towbar, TowPro brake controller, DC-DC charger for the Anderson Plug to the van and a 100 amp surge protect solenoid for the second battery (Thumper carried in the back). Happy with the work until I went to lock the car using the Passive Entry method .... the black button on the door handle ... nothing. The fob closed it ok and I had reason to actually read the Jeep Owners manual about how to engage Passive Entry via the UConnect in dash system. Still no joy, so scoured the internet and rang the installers first thing.
They tried the disconnect and reconnect the battery and ran the full scan finding nothing amiss. I suggested that an 'old mate' in the US had the same problem and his audio installer had disconnected the sensor located in the rear of the vehicle. So, to cut this long tale a bit shorter, out came the tyre, all the plastic and sure enough, the sensor had been disconnected by the towbar wiring tech and not reconnected by the dude who put all the bits back together. Thought I'd share in case anyone else has a similar issue.

Yep the same thing happened to me when my Long Range Tank was installed. I hit the tank installer up for reimbursement of the Jeep stealership diagnostic bill.

Ditto,
Yep I'd say it's happend to 60% of towbar installs.
If you do a search you'll find lots of stories.
Kudos for self diagnosis and enjoy your New GC.

There is a sensor on the bottom of the spare wheel well shroud that causes this if left disconnected. Certainly the case when I left it disconnected
