Default Tekonsha brake controller install WK2

To all,

Just wondering if anyone knows if the Australian Factory Tow bar installation allows for the connection of an Electric brake controller (Tekonsha P3) with the plug in Tekonsha Cable?

answer for the JGC export version we get in Australia is NO. There is no prewiring suitable for a brake controller in vehicles that come here.
Normal installation of a brake controller on our vehicles is to take the brake feed to the controller from the stop light circuit that is wired to the trailer plug. Then run that wire back to the controller when the wiring is installed from the controller back to the trailer plug.
Keep away from the vehicle wiring or the brake pedal switch.

Actually the OEM Towbar comes with a harness and a plug to connect a Brake controller to. Mine is in the rear left hand rear under the Small removable tub. The plug gives you brake input and brake power to the plug. I just ran twin core from this plug to my Towpro and works perfectly. I have a MY18 but this was the same or similar at least in my MY14.

You are right Phoenie77, our 2015 had the same plug - I used it to connect and take the brake feed to our P3 - (it comes off the brake light feed) - our 2012 didn't have the plug - so got wired from the trailer plug.

If you get a HR bar the harness doesn't have the plug.

I believe though that the OP was referring to a prewired brake controller connection plug that is fitted to US versions up under the dash. Tekonsha market a direct connect cable from that plug for their controllers.
Our vehicles don't get the plug under the dash, hence have to be wired with the brake feed from the rear.
