Default Battery saver mode

Car has been sitting for just over a week and took it for a drive last night, started OK but about 5-10 mins into the drive I got the battery saver mode message (no other lights).

From what I read in the manual, I'm assuming that the battery just had a low state of charge from sitting all week and nothing to worry about. Car is only 1 year old so I would be surprised if the battery is failing. Car started OK again this morning, so is there anything else I should be checking?

Interestingly, I put it on a charger today and it went into reconditioning mode, so I could just need a good charge. The other thing it has been cold here the last couple of days.

A couple of observations: Firstly the car being only one year old doesn't mean the battery is still 'fresh'. A friend of mine just bought a brand new Hyundai i30 and the battery died in week 2 of ownership, dealer had to replace it. Secondly, I doubt you'd get cold enough temps in Perth to deplete a battery, and standing one week unused shouldn't be long enough to kill it (averagely speaking). Mine often stands unused for two to three weeks in Melbourne winters without an issue.
I'd be suspecting failing battery or even an alternator fault, although that too would be unusual after only one year. Worth having them both tested.

If the vehicle has a stop /start system it may be the 2nd battery indicating it has a problem.

My 2012 GC Overland diesel is run only once a month here in NZ.Gets a good run when I am in NZ whichI am now.The battery is eight years old.!,Did a load test the other day and comes up like a new battery.Started first crack in -3 frost the other morn. The AGM batteries do not discharge quickly when not used unless battery drain etc.I also heard to keep the remote a good distance from the vehicle .Get the battery load tested.A flattish or failing battery usually will cause quite a few other problems.

The car has been starting fine every time since and it's showing 14.2 - 14.4 whilst driving, so I don't suspect the alternator. It's just strange that it came up with the battery saver mode message despite starting OK and voltage being good. Could have just been a bit low as it had been sitting for a week, zero degrees where I live and only does short runs during the week normally.

Edit: interesting point about the remote. I have noticed a couple of times that the car has unlocked (and lights come on because it is in the garage) when I'm near by with my keys in my pocket. I assumed that the unlock button was accidentally being pressed when in my pocket, but maybe something else is going on.

I had this warning on my MY14 Overland previously, it was 3 years old and not had any issues with battery or starting etc. so first the warning message came up and then it started shutting things down like audio, climate etc. dropped it in at the dealer and they tried all sorts of things over the course of about a week. Changed the battery, then the alternator, then the battery again, then the body control module and eventually found a wire shorting through the firewall which they claimed was from accessories fitted by the auto spark so possibly driving lights or brake controller perhaps. Anyway they did it all under warranty, which makes me slightly suspicious but I went straight to the nearest bottle shop and took a carton back them regardless.

Hey Phoenie77

Did things like your audio, climate, etc shut down at the same time when you got the message or was it a progressive thing? ie did things start shutting down over a period of days/weeks or did it all happen at the one time.

The reason I ask is I have driven the car 3 times since I got the message and haven't had it come up again. Voltage seems ok, with it showing 12ish with ignition on, dropping to between 10 - 11 during cranking and then 14.2 - 14.4 when running. So all seems good on that front.
