Best bet is to ask a Jeep dealer to check the VIN to see if the TSB has been applied to the vehicle. Also take a copy of the TSB with you in case they have trouble recollecting its contents.

Cheers

Rang a Jeep dealer in Brisbane and spoke to a very helfull guy

He said yep no problem they will need the car for a day, and if determined that the head is at fault they till have it sorted within that day

Reassured me that based on my VIN my car is covered by the extended warranty and is covered to September 2021

And not to worry about it keep driving it until I have time to book it in
Or unless there is drivability issues, like loss of performance , fuel economy or goes into limp mode

So I guess we will be taking it on in the next couple of months when convenient.

That’s a relief

Good news, hopefully that's a fix for you.
Personally, I'd book it in ASAP and reference the helpful guy when you do.
Things have a habit of changing in automotive warranty, but if it's booked in and confirmed work it would be difficult to wriggle out of it.

Other than the slightest of irregular idle when cold it’s impossible to find anything bad about how the car runs.

While conscious of the possibility of a faulty head I’m wondering if it would be worthwhile pulling the manifold and replacing the spark plugs and at the same time swapping the LHS coil packs to the right and viceversa, that way if by chance it’s just a plug then it’s fixed, and if it’s a coil pack , then the dodgy one is on the side easy to replace.

As part of new ownership I would normally fit new plugs, the only down side is the amount of work

Worst case is the problem remains, then it goes to the dealer, best case it’s fixed and then I don’t have anyone messing with my car

What do you all reckon

You cant remove the bulb on the Check Engine light for sure? Those cluster lights would most probably be soldered led diodes in this day?

the 3.6 is covered till 2021 for you, for engine Misfires - be sure you have a misfire before heading into the dealer. Otherwise they will sting you for diagnostics if it is not(ie coil packs).

Do your own diagnostics to be certain as mis fires can be something else. Move coil packs around to a different cylinder to be sure and see if the problem follows. Do a compression test if you know how to.

If you are 100% certain you have a misfire on cyl 2,4,6 then send it in and you should be covered for a new cyl head if it falls under the recall of the pentistar tsb(export).
