Since its only UHF I just use a stainless wire aerial with a pigs tail in the middle, less prone to damage, couldn't see the sense with some fancy aerial only need it for vehicle to vehicle comms'

GCRob, I just used the stainless steel one that came with the aerial. It is quite strong, clears the bonnet edge and doesn't shake very much.......all good for my needs, mainly talking to truckies re passing etc. I use the short tip at home and the long one on trips.

this is where I've mounted mine as we hate looking past a wobbly aerial for hundreds of kms, the cable is siliconed down the edge of the windscreen into the LH fire wall grommet under the bonnet, depending on the terrain I swop between a 3db to a 6db

I just use the scalar for cb glass mount (sorry reflection is outside power points not coax hanging down) then traditional drivers side vhf/uhf diamond and the Hf multi tapped whip when I actually need it. Amateur sits in place of sunglasses holder and cheap Oricom cb remote head is inside the cupboard shelf above the USB, sd, 12 volt slot. Second hand oricom as has speaker in on remote and base which lives under rear seat so I can hear it. The 7000 and its it100 auto tuner lives bracketed under driver’s seat once removed that existing Jeep bracket that did nothing in my view. Just some ideas. Have the NGT and auto tune as well but sitting in garage as normally place on caravan with remote in car only if I get serious and need the Hf to phone part. Cannot bear to place that in front of the missus. Being a ham, I only get critical when I see multiple antennas really close together on left side of bull bar all lined up as can end up being quite a directional reflector at 90 degrees to travel.

Hi Imaz the antenna is a Mobile RFI CD63 6db, I swop the 700mm lg whip for that short flex unit depending on the terrain (trees) as I'm not using a spring base, cheers
