Default Roof top tent

I’m after anyone that has put a roof top tent successfully onto a grand Cherokee wk2
I know the roof carrying capacity in the owners manual is low ,and the flimsy roof mounts on the vehicle wouldn’t cope , I’m willing to make alterations to the roof and mounts if it can be done
I think I’ve seen on the net forums were it has been done successfully
And help or contact would be appreciated
Thanks
Graham

If you dig around on here you will find someone who has done a job on roof support, something thats really needed as the roof bars can barely support themselves.
A roof top tent is far better being slung onto a rack on a 6x4 box trailer, allows vehicle use and better storage....

I wouldn't put your phone number in a post for all to see, makes it easy for spammers and just spreading your ID, ask for someone to PM you for contact details like phone or email....

I’ll either be towing a boat trailer when I go away racing, or a caravan when we holiday
The roof top tent is for the when I drop the caravan off and go further bush
If I can’t get a roof top tent onto the Jeep I’ll need to get another tow vehicle and I don’t really want to as the Jeep does it all ( except carry weight on the roof )

Have a look at Offroad Animal, Uneek or Chief Products. All do roof rack systems that will support a roof top Tent. I think that there is a secondhand Uneek rack for sale on the forum.

Uneek Rack is what I went with

Very strong and stable

This was pictured after a weeks worth of mud and dust along the Otways in Victoria

I know your problem Hairyas , I went from a fully kitted up off grid dual cab back to a Jeep...

Anyway check this link out, shows how to mod the roof properly to carry a proper rack. http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...d.php?t=154282
