I didn't start with a hole saw as the directions tell you to do. I felt that there was too much chance for me to screw that up so I used a dremel with hard cutting discs for everything - I went through two discs from memory.
Thanks mate. I think I saw in your post a pic with the masking tape on, so will do same.

And I think I agree with scrapping the hole saw. I've got a pretty steady hand, but I think I would be better with the dremel than with the hole saw!

Thanks for the advice!

The destructions suggest using touch-up paint or rust inhibitor on the cut surface. What did you use? I've just spoken with the dealers about a pot of touch up paint - $33 and will be in tomorrow. I figured this might come in handy at some point down the track so worth the coin.

I think I'll do it one night this week... will take plenty of pics and post it up when done.

Cheers!

i've got a steel blue jeep, but i just bought some Dulux Quit Rust matt black paint from bunnings to touch up the edges. they're all in the dark under the trim ring so you cant see the colour, and the matt black helps hide them more.

Yeah, I considered that for a moment. I think I have some grey rust proof primer in the shed. But I figuerd the touch up paint may come in handy in the future.

Damn today is going slowly...

Question for those who have installed one..

Looking though the supplied instructions, it doesn't look to tricky. Obviously, the worst bit will be cutting into the hood!

Does anyone have any tips? Anything they learnt on the job??

Will post pics when all done!
If you do happen to use a hole saw make sure its a 2". The Instructions that came in the box show the use of a 3". Updated install instructions are available from the AEV website. The updated template has a tighter tolerance.
