Wg 2.7 crd glow plugs won’t fit.
Ok guys iv gone to do some glow plugs on the 2.7 crd and I purchased a set of ngk Y-745U from burson auto parts. But for some reason they stop about 10mm from the thread and won’t go in any further. Has anyone else had issues with these glow plugs in the 2.7. Do I need to use a reamer to clean the carbon out or do they simply not fit ? The old plugs are completely straight and the new ones have a step half way up the glow plug tip.

Are they the same dimensions as the old units? If not I'd suspect that you have the wrong part. When I did mine they dropped straight back in.

yeah they are the same but the new ones have a step half way up the tip that gets thicker. im thinking this is the part its getting stuck on. its listed in the everything 2.7 crd as the correct part number so i was seeing if anyone has got the NGK ones to fit. i was going to buy the reaming tool and cleaning any carbon out.
What brand glow plugs did you use ?

I'm pretty sure I've got Bosch glow plugs, they were a direct replacement. Sounds like the parts you have aren't a direct replacement.

A pic of the new next to the old would help.

So I returned the ngk glow plugs and got the Bosch ones and they fitted correctly.
The ngk ones were incorrect.
