Before you make the conclusion that the TPS is shot i'd try cleaning out the IAC and throttle body with some throttle body cleaner.

Might even want to check for vacuum leaks.

I just tried that and started the Jeep. Good sign at the start was idling @ 800rpm instead of 2000rpm. Sadly the auto still seems to be working backwards holding 1st gear and pulling 4000rpm at 50kph. I turned around when the misfire returned and as I pulled into the driveway the Jeep started chugging and dropped down below the lowest mark on the tacho. Got out and the exhaust smelt really bad.

Did another code reading and getting 12, 44 and 55 so that's not really helping.

I'm thinking of swapping TPS back to the old one, and if I get the misfire back but the auto back to normal I'll pickup a new TPS in the morning. But if the auto runs the same with the old TPS then I'll be parting out the Jeep.

Swapped the TPS back to the old one, Jeep ran perfectly.
Idled great. Changed gears perfectly. Didn't even miss or shudder, although I assume that'll return over time.
I started to forget how nice the Jeep drives when it's running well.
Will see if I can pickup an OEM TPS tomorrow. . . I'll take @ApacheResistance advice and only use OEM for sensors from now on.

You'd think it wouldn't be too hard to get ahold of an OEM TPS.
I had to pickup a used one until they've got one in stock.
Trailering my bike down to Collie on the weekend (200km each way) hopefully the Jeep will hold up for the trip

The shudder is back, although it made the trip to Collie and back (500kms) towing 2 sport bikes on the trailer.
Anyway the shudder seems to happen regardless which TPS I have fitted at the time so I'm moving on from that idea.
Reached the end of my patience with it now, if anyone is interested in a cheap '97 Cherokee Limited in Perth let me know. It is licenced and running, but has an annoying shudder, new spark plugs, ignition coil, CPS, HT leads, front brake rotors, front brake pads, catalytic converter and serviced in the last 2,000 kms, body work is rough, paint severely sunburnt and scratched. . . also has a tow bar. AC, seats, elec windows, stereo, lights, horn, etc all seem to work fine.
I'll do some proper for sale ads on the weekend.
I was thinking $1500 as is, probably a bargain for someone more mechanically minded than me and would be worth heaps more than that in parts if someone can be bothered wrecking it. I paid almost 3 times that amount for it 6 months ago . . . and spent over the asking price of repairs since then

Default XJ Cherokee Shudder

Sorry to hear you've lost faith, hopefully someone else can offer an alternate solution to selling.
