If you do head up to Cape Leveque, its worth calling into Begeal Bay to see the Sacred Heart Church. Its only a small detour but its a pretty church

So from Cape Leveque we traveled to Windjana Gorge to camp via a quick fuel stop in Derby

Great campsite with flushing toilets and drinking water avaliable

It cost us approximately $55 to csmp for two night.

The road in was a bit corregated but nothing too serious

We planned to spend a day exploring the gorge and a second day exploring tunnel creek. In reality we did both easily in the day. Both are wonderful but tunnel creek is absolutely amazing and is a must do

Some photos of tunnel creek. TC is approximately 30km from windjana gorge and be accessed by either the gibb or a turn off on the great western highway

The walk is not overly long & is a short distance from the carpark. But be prepared to walk through some water (upto knee deep in places) & take a torch

We also found the local aboriginal heritage interesting as well as the limestone formations. But it was hard watching other travelers climb over everything thing with complete disregard to the above

A few photos of my wifes handy work.

She gave me heaps of crap re how small tge standard 245 tires are.

The good news is i now have lots of leverage for new 285's

Also a photo of the gibb itself. This photo was from tge derby end and flat, smooth and better than some highways

Fyi tge northern, el questro end is winder with small shaily rock

Also its crazy what you see. Watch out for cyclists. There's more than you think

So from Windjana we had two options, silent grove campground or a future 90km to Mt Barnet Station

Silent grove is the campground for Bell Gorge & Mt Barnet has Manning Gorge and Manning Falls.

We chose to head to Mt Barnet to set up camp before exploring Manning Gorge. Should say we mainly did this due to some very very loud campers that were heading from Windjana to Silent Grove.

If i was going again id just head straight to silent grove.

Anyway, Mt Barnet has i nice campground with flushing toilets and showers. It slso has fuel and basic supplies but you do pay for it. Fuel was $1.99 per liter ulp and a liter of long life milk was $4.50.

You will need to call into the roadhouse to purchase a permit if wanting to explore or stay. there is a great little safe swimming area right next to the campground and Manning Gorge/Falls are quoted as a 1.5 hour walk

We did the walk in about an hour. Its not hard, but there is some serious rock hopping at the falls end. They also recommend that you leave the falls by 3pm. This gives you ample time to get back before dark.

Manning Gorge/Falls were amazing. The water was crisp, clear and clean. The falls were not overcrowded but make sure you keep walking right when you hit the gorge. We stopped at the first bit of water (the gorge) thinking that was it. And we were impressed with that. Then my wife went to take a photo and noticed people around to to right and the falls.

My kids (6 & 9 years) winged when walking in, but both said that manning gorge and falls were epic

The next day we backtracked (180km return) to see Bell Gorge & Galvins Gorge

Bell is reported to be one of the best in Kimberley and consequently can become overcrowded

The walk into bell is not that hard and will take about half hour-ish, but there are lots of small rocks you need to walk over. The rocks are like large (football size) river pebbles

Bell is nice and you can swim at the top pools (where the trail takes you) or you can keep walking to the deep bottom pools below the falls.

In my opinion bell is nice but overrated. The water was not as clean as manning gorge and there was lots of brown algee (spelling). Notwithstanding this its worth a look

Galvins gorge is amazing and a hidden gem. The carpark is just off the gibb and its a short easy walk in. Galvins is not big, but there was no one there. Its definitely a must do
