1995 XJ cruise control issues
I have a 1995 XJ cherokee limited.
it appears as though the cruise is not working, at all.
this is my first XJ. was wondering if anyone could tell me how it usually operates. I.E is there a light on the dash that should activate when the system is active.
i recieve no action from my jeep upon switching the cruise to the on position.
if anyone has any ideas or if they have suffered something similar comments of the like would be much appreciated.
Regards
Rero

I don't think there's a light to indicate when cruise control is on. To make it work you need to press the "on/off" button on the left side of the steering wheel and then when you're going the speed you want to maintain press the "set" button on the right side of the steering wheel. To change speed you can press the up down buttons on the right side of the steering wheel and to cancel it you can press the brake pedal. To turn it off press the "on/off" button again.

Hey mate, had the same issue when i bought my 1996 xj, checked ore the system and found the vacuum line for the cruise had broken off. If yours is the same as mine you should have a LED in the on off switch on the steering wheel light up when its turned on

I have a 95 Limited and it has no LED on the switches, I use it just as Tims_Jeep described.

The 95's have no indication other than the on/off button being depressed, the 96's onwards had the LED indicator.
Check the vacuum lines as suggested as well as ensure that the cable from the servo unit is actually still connected to the throttle body.
Where abouts are you located???
Cheers, JJ

As I mentioned above the 96's onwards have the LED, the 95's don't have it, they are also a different switch, the 96's have a momentary on/off switch where the 95's have a latching on/off switch and they aren't interchangeable.....
