where are you located vux ?

sometimes the dealership can charge a bit for a readout your local mechanic or jeep specialist might have the tool as well. worth a check if wish to save a bit of $$$$$ and if the closest dealership is many many miles away

I have changed all these sensors myself. I have a ODB reader, but you say that I also can read out other errors with DBR11?

hey vux, obd readers can't talk to the Bosch ECU, just a limited amount of info made available via the Motorola PCM.

So if you take it into a dealer they will be able to read codes that the obd scan tool can't..

Default Cherokee -98 2.5TD stops/stalls

Cheezl is correct a specific protocol is used. A drb III or star scan can read the computer it's like a 3 grand tool but snap on and other just as expensive manufacturers provide the same tools

Would love to get my hands on the source code for a drb III. There is a forum member who understands a lot more about them, I think his name is 'blacklisted'

Does it connect to the same plug as odb?

Anyway, ordered a used fuel injection pump (145000km) to replace the old one.

I need some tools to swap the pump but they are difficult to find online, maybe the local dealer can borrow me what I need..I have the manual but is there a easier way (without all tools) of doing this swap?

Tools I need, anyone got online links where to buy?
alignment tool VM# 1043
adapter tool VM# 1011
3–piece gear removal tool set VM# 1003
dial indicator tool

I hope you have plenty of experience with injector pumps. Its not an easy job setting them up.
Have you had a DBR 111 scan done? You may just have a bad connection some where.

If you have no luck with the dealer lending you the tools, try your local diesel specialist as well. I once had a shop lend me their tooling to remove and install my IP, but they did the rebuild. If you aren't spending any other money with them they may be reluctant. But most of them drink so be ready to offer some liquid currency
