Default WH Laredo drive on the weekend

Hi ALL

Took a new WH Limited (3.0l CRD) for a test on the weekend. What a loverly car it was to drive. When I got back & I was talking to the sales guy I found out that Jeep have changed the specs on the Laredo & Limited since I last checked. They all only come with "Quadra-Trac II" now. I know that the diesel came with "Quadra-Drive" a year or so ago. Seems that Jeep must be cutting back to keep the price down. By the way the option for Quadra-drve is around $2200.00 for the "off-road" group.

I was under the impression that all CRD's and 5.7's came with QDII and the 4.7's and V6 petrols came with QTII?

The QDII is the best part of the WH!

It is funny how Jeep or Chrysler offer off-road packages...across a number of different models, most particular of all, the Grand Chekkas. Why would Jeep cut the Quadra Drive?

I always thought Jeeps were off road faring vehicles - out of the box.

I am not sure how many Grand Chekka owners that already have the QD2 use it, or have ever felt the car operate it.

Having said that, at least it is a nice-to-have option from the Jeep stable, and you can always seek a third party aftermarket product, assuming there is something suitable out there.

Not sure if the majority of Jeep owners who are hardcore off-road enthusiasts have ever needed the assistance of QD2. This, coming from a stock standard Selec-trac operator on a 12 y.o. XJ. I am sure the XJ, TJ and JK owners will probably have never used anything additional [from Jeep] to 4-Lo in their transfer cases - with the exception of the Rock Crawlers.

Wow, that's a cost cutting exercise that is a bit surprising . Just checked the Jeep website in amazement, and it's even optional on the Limited now and the skid plates have disappeared into the "Off Road Pack" as well. It means they are moving the GC "down market" in 4WD ability.

Strange thing is that QDII is still standard on the CRD Commander Sport and both CRD and petrol Limiteds.

I am going through the process of trying to order a Lorado CRD with the QD11 and there is none in Aus, so the salesman rings up and says there is a 16 week wait for one to come from factory, He rings again this morning to say they have halted the production of all GC's for the time being and doesn't know when production will start again, most likely quite some time as they try to move the stockpiles that lay around the place, nobody is buying new cars in the states ATM.
I thinking weather to just take a QT instead and fit after market diff locks????????

Mud, better take what you can get. Chrysler may never restart production of the CRD (given that they have no local market (US) for it), and they have heaps of other trouble just paying their staff. Take a GC CRD that is either in country now, or on the boat (and they do know what is in transit). Better to have the vehicle you want (and be able to mod it to suit) than to miss out all together.

Yeh that's what will end up happening I think, Just waiting for word back from the salesman about the commander as they have the QD11 standard with the CRD still. My problem is my company won't allow us to novate a lease that is over the Luxury Car Tax Limit.
