If it has done any towing have a good look at the hitch mounts also the left hand engine mount can be a bit dodgy if it's got heaps of K's on it.

Just to add a little more to dan's response.
The ZJ/G has a long/low pinion Dana 30 - similar to the CJ not the TJ. (pinion is 205mm not 185mm). Oh yeah most XJ's got the HP D30, but those that have the low pinion have the short one like the TJ). Also unlike the XJ/TJ the ZJ/G has those weakarsed CV's. and also a CV front driveshaft (not double cardan).
Rear diff is Dana 35 like the XJ - but obviously has disc brakes not drum & coils not leafs.
ZJ/G Transfer case is full-time NP249, not the parttime/fulltime option with the NP242 used in the XJ.

Do the bearings in the ZG D35 run directly on the axle shaft like the XJ, or do they have an inner race? Are they different?

So they are all full time transfer cases then? Does that mean in general terms the XJ is superior of road in stock form with its full time/part-time case, and other differences?, be honest now ZG-heads.
cheers.
