Default Fog light options

Hey all,

Just after some advice for Fog light replacement. obviously the factory candles arent worth a pinch of shit. so looking at options. ATM im leaning towards the brackets that let you mound a small square aurora or dually spotlight in there. the JW speaker and knock off versions dont look like they will be much use.

I typically dont drive in fog and dont really care about the function for foglight, i just want some serious light output for offroad use only.

what have others done, would you do it again. whats the best options, whats the cheapest etc. Any help at all would be welcome

Whack some hid globes in them, although a fog reflector will scatter light everywhere.
Maybe rip em out and put a pair of small hid spotties in the gaps

I've looked into this a bit and the dually brackets seemed to be a good option, heaps of beam patterns to select from and they seem like a good light. I was considering sticking diffused down there to fill out the short range.

Been in some pretty crazy fog this winter though and decided keep running fog lights. I had some good success in the thick stuff with the stock foggies on and flipping the headlights back to parker. Will swap the lot out for JWS when I'm drunk enough to justify the expense.

Depends a lot on how much your prepared to spend.

Having tried a few different HID spots to replace the stockies... I wouldn't head down that path again. The reflector size just isn't suitable and you get a very poorly direct light. Bright but mostly wasted.

The JW Speaker and knock offs are true fog lights..... short range and sharp cutoff i.e exactly as specified. Good if you have other alternate lights and want close range fill in.

Aurora, Rigid etc etc will give a better distance throw ( assuming you get the right reflector type. As long as you get a reputable brand not at all bad.

IMHO the best are the Baha Designs, lots of power and available in flood, combined flood/spot or pure spot. The Pro's are the more powerful but you can get the Sport version. They are Mil-Spec, submersible and and.....

Very impressive lights..... but at a cost.

I have a pair of the Aurora dually cubes on the A pillars angled outwards....they're flood beams.
Very happy with the flood of white light off to the sides. Nicely made piece of gear.

Good points here but if going for a spot / super spot type beam I'd be looking at getting it up higher so as not to burn so much power throwing it into the ground. A pillar mounts for a dually type light are easy enough, the big 50s I guess are another thing, hood mount up to the operator but I can't get on board with em.
