Hi again!

Well I thought I have better post some more photos of the M38A1 now it is back home.
It had barely hit the ground and we pulling the power pac/gear box out. This model has been desgined to make this simpler (and I mean simpler not easy) than the civilian CJ5 to remove. Things like hinged grill and screw together wireing looms. Also the radiator stays attached to the engine. (see photo)

The reason why we were pulling it out was that when the engine was done up and gear box etc fitted and installed in the jeep the fingers on the clutch pressure plate had not been correctly adjusted. They were 15~20mm away from the thrust bearing. Also it was discovered other items were not tightened up, split pins omitted, front brake hose (chassis to axle) needed replaceing and the brake system got a pressure bleed/flush.

Then it was a matter of throwing it back together right away as the anual Military Jeep Club show and swap was apon us.

The jeep still requires a fair bit of finnishing off and correcting. The eagle eyed memebers may notice it is currently sporting a CJ5 bumper. Well it was better than non and I now have a correct repro one arrived from the USA. Another item is the windscreen and frame. It currently is a incorect one piece civilan one but I do have a correct 2 piece military one that i have restored waiting to be fitted. It will also be getting all new canvas work and other body fittings and fixtures. Finaly after a full respray it will be fitted with the correct 1950s military radio set.

I will post photos as they come available.

Phil...

Part of the fun is chasing down the parts and getting it the way you want.
