The risk lies with the Club. Clubs considering this should really talk to former Club hosts to gather information on the level of involvement both in terms of effort and finance that is required. Former club hosts can provide a great deal of insight into the processes that need to be in place to successfully organise a Jamboree.
I was oversimplifying it, as without CJ support, the rest won't be likely to happen anyway. I was on the committee that started the process of bringing 2010 to Vic and in the club when MJOC did it in 2004 and our business plan was crucial in both cases, without those they key sponsor wouldn't have been on board. You're right though as to a good starting point, as long as those who were around then can still be found, very few of 2004 committee members are still active in MJOC.

Interesting.

Seems the tradition has been since 1990 that the following Jamboree is announced at the Saturday night dinner. But then again, the tradition may be old hat. The croweaters (S.A.) have never had the opportunity to host a Jambo and I don't think that may be a bad thing. West Oz has hosted one Jambo but have struggled to get viable numbers for financial success. Venue problems are also an issue for W.A. and they have sharks...LOL

I've been touting this for years. Lets go outback and have the South Oz mob do the preparation - (get the accolades) for something a bit different from the "tuff truk" or "widow maker hill" or "bog hole bastardy" with a more family orientated, cruiser, tourer, outback adventure?

Less competition and more laid back touring and camping accent.

Being of the older Jeep contingent, I don't want to have to compete on a big hill or similar. We can do the Jambo thing without risking vehicles or selves.

Over to you. First post in over two years........

X2 on The Bright area.
Depending on numbers, the Buckland Valley may be an option. There are many camping areas along there.
SheepYard Flat out of Mansfield would be another option.

I'd like it if Melbourne hosted it again. I live right near Lardner park. Also if mjoc is interested I have connections with Lardner park which may help. If so contact me.
