Thanks for all the advice people.

Unfortunatly will not be going outside the Kalbarri area on this trip, so beach runs it is, hope it's not to soft..

Steep point is a must on my list of places to vist and will be going further north next year.

Maybe I'll start a new thread on the the best places in WA outside the metro area to use your jeep....

Anyone, anyone, anyone...

Lucky bay is one place you have to visit while in Kalbarri, travel south along coast road about 11kms (I think) turn right and head towards the ocean, then you can either go north through the dunes, tracks and beach towns or hit the beach and drive along that. If you go to the tourist centre they can give you directions. It is a beautiful place, take sandboards and your snorkling gear because there is a protected area of water which has some brilliant fish life and coral really close to the shore.

Just found this on youtube, pretty much shows off the whole area.

If you want a real challenge try the track from Point Cloates to Exmouth via the Ningalooo Yardie Creek Road

If he wants a REAL test for the jeep take it to the Burrup outside of Dampier. The jump-up should give the jeep a bit of a challenge and if it makes that one perhaps try the track to the right at the top of the jump-up..

I cant believe that we have left the Pilbara where the best and most challenging 4wdriving in WA is - IMHO and now are buying a new Rubicon. Might have to move back!!!!
